Duck.....Duck.....Goose!

Duck.....Duck.....Goose!

Spring is here baby! The birds are chirping, the weather is breaking, and everyone is starting to make their way outside again! With that being said I promised myself once temperatures started rising I would explore and travel to different places locally that I’ve never been to. With my culinary background I’ve always wanted to explore and try different restaurants out of the norm. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with TGI Fridays, Long Horn Steakhouse, or Apple Bees. However a girl has to have options! My options include a variety not the common cuisine! My taste buds are craving for the unfamiliar! Which brings me to Duck, Duck, Goose!

Duck, Duck, Goose is located in the heart of Fells Point, Maryland. This restaurant is modern French cuisine with a chic environment. It has a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. What I really love about this restaurant is the fact that it specializes in duck! We all know Maryland is widely famous for our crabs! I thought the idea of specializing in duck in such a seafood based market was very unique. I feel like this was a wonderful way to bring attention to cuisine that’s not too often attempted!

I had a wonderful lunch experience! The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Brittany was my waitress, and Dexter was my bartender! Both were very accommodating! I even had a chance to meet the House Manager Casey. (He really made sure that I was given the best customer service possible.) After being seated ( my choice was outdoors) I was presented with the lunch menu! The lunch menu was a limited selection but still had some pretty great choices! I ordered the “Charred Broccolini” and “Duck Confit with Waffles”! While I waited for my food, I headed over to the bar to ask about the most popular drinks served! There were two that really stuck out to me! Dexter told me that the most popular drinks were “The Golden Goose” and “The Duck L’ Orange”. So me being me I just had to try both! The Golden Goose consists of Grey Goose Citron, white cranberry, fresh lemon, champagne and topped with 24 karat gold flakes. Very smooth yet strong in taste, and a hint of sweetness! It’s definitely on my favorites list. The Duck L’ Orange consists of bourbon, Grand Mariner, Maple, and Duck Bacon Lolli! Very bold flavor, sweet and pretty to look at! I personally enjoyed “The Golden Goose” better! That’s just the drinks. Don’t get me started on the food!

So far as what I ordered, it was phenomenal! I ordered the “Duck Confit with Waffles” which comes with a side of butter and maple syrup, and the “Charred Broccolini” . First of all this was the first time I tried duck, and it was amazing! It was juicy, flavorful and tender! The outside had a crisp to the skin, and the inside to me reminded me of the dark meat part of chicken. It was delicious! The waffles were nice and fluffy! Definitely a great twist on the typical “Chicken N Waffles”. As a side I also ordered the “Charred Broccolini”. The broccolini was tender as well but had a semi browned exterior that really gave it flavor and added some textural complexity. The broccolini was accompanied by a garnish of almond puree and fresh lemon curd! Those two garnishes really gave the broccolini some pizazz! It was a great play on flavors between the three, and very colorful to look at on a plate! And of course to add the icing on the cake I did try a dessert dish! Now I do wish there was a better selection, and more options to choose from , but there was one that I just had to try for myself. I tried the “Croissant Bread Pudding”. It was flaky on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside! Garnished with salted caramel syrup, topped with salted caramel ice cream! Me personally I’m a super sweets person, so I did enjoy it but I do wish the bread pudding itself was a little sweeter ! Nonetheless still a great choice!

Overall out of 5 stars I would rate this restaurant 4 stars. I really enjoyed my experience, the food was wonderful and the customer service was top notch! The only things that I would want to change is having a bigger selection to choose from for lunch, and more dessert options. I would definitely recommend this place for a date night, or brunch outing, but not for a family setting! Not a very large establishment for a family outing type vibe. Also parking can be pretty tricky depending on the day of the week due to where it’s located! Other than that I truly enjoyed my experience dining here! I hope this review can help with those looking to try out a new restaurant located in Maryland! To make your reservation please visit www.ddgbaltimore.com.
