Soooooo I had no clue how to do makeup , or anything about makeup until I started modeling! I started modeling professionally 4 years ago! I’m talking runway, music videos, magazine features, and occasional photo shoots here and there for my portfolio! That was when I decided to take my look more seriously. When I entered the modeling world I realized how much effort went into maintaining my own personal look! Now let me tell you it can be pretty expensive just starting out! When I first starting modeling I learned that there was a lot to learn about makeup! For one, it can be costly! Whether you’re hiring someone to do it, or you’re doing it yourself! I remember I use to pay MUA’s between $75-$100 every single time I wanted my face done! At this time in the beginning of my career I was going broke trying to keep up! I realized I couldn’t afford a MUA for every time I had a photoshoot! Therefore I made a conscious decision to learn to do it myself and to invest in myself!

I taught myself how to do dramatic makeup, smoky eye looks , contour, and even my own natural look! Now I’m no professional, but I definitely can get the job done! When I started I invested almost $300 into myself towards makeup! That includes eye shadows, makeup brushes, blush, highlighter, lip liner, eye liner, primer, foundation, eye lashes, setting powder/spray and a boat load of other makeup necessities! My best teachers were YouTube University, other MUA’s that have worked on me , and just plain old trial and error. To date I’ve probably saved thousands of dollars in hiring a makeup artist! Now that’s what I call a return on your investment!

In my time of trial and error I’ve discovered amazing brands that I absolutely love to use! I will say this, you do get what you pay for, however don’t underestimate drug store makeup! It can get the job done just as good depending on the brand that is!

Here Is A List Of The Makeup Brands I Absolutely Love To Use!

  • Juvia’s Place

  • Beauty Bakerie

  • Glamlite Cosmetics

  • Cover Girl

  • Fenty

  • NYX

  • Morphe

  • The Crayon Case

  • NARS

  • Urban Decay

  • Too Faced

Before I never liked makeup, but truthfully I didn’t understand it! Now with the experience, trial and error, and of course YouTube lol, I feel more confident than ever doing my own makeup! It’s all a process and learning experience!

Now when it comes to shopping for makeup you must be strategic! I love a good bargain when it comes to shopping! Depending on the brand depends on where I shop! Some brands are online only, while others are in store and online! I like to shop in store at Ulta Beauty, Target and Riley Rose! However I’ll look online first to see who’s having a sale! Often times make up brands will run a sale but never at the same time online and accessible in store. Prime example Juvia’s Place may run a 50% off sale for their store online, while Ulta Beauty may just be full price for Juvia’s Place products or vice versa. Before making any purchase I shop around for the best deals! I really enjoy shopping in person if I need to match my shade when trying out a new foundation or concealer! Other than that I shop my blushes, eyeshadows, and other makeup choices online without a problem! Hopefully I was able to provide some insight when it comes to makeup and beauty! Try it out, have some fun, and experiment!
